２回目の宿泊です。
お風呂に入ると柚子の良い香り。お庭で実った柚子だそうでとても癒やされました。前回も絶賛した朝食…前にこれが美味しかった！と伝えていたものを覚えていてくれて作って下さり嬉しかったです。美味しくいただきました。
御朱印集めが趣味なので行きたい神社をいくつかお伝えしてどう回るのが効率が良いのか尋ねたところお二人で考えて下さってメモ書きして丁寧に説明して下さいました。お陰様でスムーズに回ることが出来て充実した旅になりました。ありがとうございました。

We were so lucky to find this place. Because of our schedule, we wanted to be in Kyoto on one of the busiest weekends of the year (Saturday night before school restarted in April during sakura season and the Kyoto dance festival.) We couldn’t find ANY place to stay online. We started calling inns (in Japanese) which we found on Google maps and on the 20th call found this wonderful place. I’m so glad we did and wish we could have stayed longer.
It’s very close (2 blocks) to the Momoyama station on the Nara line, and 2 stops south of Fushimi Inari station (which everyone must go see). It was easy to take day trips to Kyoto as well as Nara from here.
While there we also walked east uphill through a pleasant wooded area to Momoyama jo (castle) and the tomb of Emperor Meiji. We ate dinner at a restaurant in a covered shopping area which was on the same street west of the Ryokan.
It’s a beautiful old ryokan, over a 100 years old with exquisite art pieces every where and modern plumbing. We had 2 large connected rooms, a “sink” room and large bathroom with men’s & women’s toilets. The price also included a large Japanese-style breakfast in our room.
A lovely gentleman who does not speak English runs the place. For various reasons he only takes one party at a time which was even better for us. He has a very nice garden in the middle where we sat and talked to him quite a bit. He also gave us a lot of information and maps about local sites.
Next time I go to Kyoto, I will happily stay here.
