Is the water safe to drink or do we need to buy bottled water? The RPN at Passport Health told us to either first boil the water we plan to drink and brush our teeth with or drink and use bottled water only even when staying at your resort. They also told us not to eat fresh fruit unless we prepare it ourselves. Will you confirm which is true please?

We usually asked for bottle water with meals and ate Fresh fruits prepared already that were cut up like pineapple and papaya and watermelon. We brushed our teeth with regular tap water and no issues.
A que distintas están de la playa? Ando buscando un hotel dónde tenga la playa a disposición
My family and I will be staying at the Costa Verde in a couple of weeks and I was just wanting to know the mosquito situation. My wife reacts badly when bitten and although we plan to be prepared sufficiently we just needed to know how bad if at all the little blighters are at the hotel. Are things like nets needed and such?
Many thanks in advance.

I don't know if all the rooms are exactly the same, but our room in Area D I think, was very well secured against insects. Sitting out on the porch however there were some, but you just need to take the usual precautions : Liberal use of deet and avoiding dusk and other popular times of day for mosquitoes. Also, we bought some of the spiral burners (can't remember the name at the moment) from the little supermarkets in town and that seemed to help. Mosquitoes in themselves are an issue to address and are dependent on location time of year etc, but as long as you are well informed in advance you should be fine. We used Jungle Fever repellent, wore long sleeves and trousers where necessary and had hardly any bites in 2 weeks in August. That included a 4 hour walk through the rainforest in Manuel Antonio and didn't get a single bite!
