We really enjoyed staying at the Clifton. The owners have done an amazing job of restoring this hotel. It was like a step back in time. Reminded me of staying at my grandmother's house when I was a child. Would definitely stay again if we are in the area.
Easily the coolest place to stay in the area, the owners have taken great effort to restore this gem to it's former glory. I highly recommend it. Our room was a 3 room suite with period furnishings, and modern features.
Everything that we had read from previous reviews in regard to the hotel was exactly as we found it: an amazing room (suite) with the white clawfoot tub (which I thoroughly enjoyed after a day of sighseeing); Two friendly dogs who greeted us as we came and went; the white staircase and the parlor on the first floor. The reason why we did not give our stay an Excellent was because the Noise level from the bar mde it very difficult to relax and go to sleep; parking was inadequate for hotel guests (the lot next to the hotel/bar was full of bar patrons), other than 3 fried snack-type items, there was no food available in the bar, and there was no hair dryer in the bathroom. The next time we plan a trip that includes Clifton, we hope to stay on a Sunday or a Monday when the bar is closed.…
The Clifton Hotel is a 7-room property in a building that was built in 1890. But don't let that fool you--the rooms have all been fully updated with good wifi, ceiling fans, and a small fridge. Some of the rooms have a small kitchenette. There's a common room, called the parlor, with a big table and a kuerig coffee maker in one corner. The manager, Karen, was very friendly and helpful. She was assisted by her two very friendly dogs, Katie and Potz. She upgraded me to a larger room, and had plenty of advice about places to eat. Unfortunately, I was there on a Sunday, so the bar/restaurant was not open (closed on Sun-Mon-Tue) but it looked like it might be a lively place when open. I strongly recommend The Clifton Hotel
I've stayed here before and will stay there again in July. What they have done in the renovation of the rooms is amazing. I love this place and brought a group there in April and they all fell in love with the hotel and the Owners. Morning coffee / tea with the Owners is a treat. Love hearing the stories of Clifton and what was. The struggles the town has gone through and the faith they have in their future is uplifting.
