We stayed at the amazing Camp Shawu. 5 luxury, partially tented lodges on the bank of a dam that is full of hippos and visited by elephants and giraffes. If you want to wake up and got to bed surrounded by truly memorable wildlife then this is the place for you. The hippos can be noisy at night but I found it amusing and it did not really disturb me. I treated it as part of a truly wonderful experience. Two safaris a day - early morning and afternoon lasting 2.5/3 hours a time offer an amazing bush experience. Sethiso our guide is a true professional and makes wonderful company. He can spot things in a flash - it’s as if he has a super power! As such he made sure we saw the big 5 and beyond. There was a couple from Mozambique that stayed whilst we were there - it was their 30th visit so that goes to show what a wonderful experience Camp Shawu and it’s team offer. There is no Wi-Fi so be prepared. However it’s good to get back to basics. Take games and rediscover a world away from the internet! Breakfast, lunch, high tea and dinner were plentiful and to such a high standard. Lots of choice and always served with such warm hospitality. The whole Shishangeni and Camp Shawu team cared and were helpful and incredibly friendly. They all helped make our experience truly wonderful.…
