Firslty as a hotelier i almost never write reviews, preferring to keep my comments between the owner and manager and myself. I tend to believe faults can happen and if the staff handle it and resolve it then why raise the issue around the world? I do believe reviews can be very useful and take them seriously ,but as i mentioned before it is my belief that its always best to address things directly.
However when i see an owners investment going to waste and money being lost for the most stupid of reasons I have to raise the issue in the hope the owner will read the review
I have stayed at this place with my family on many occasions and always considered a hidden little gem. However after my latest attempt to stay(today) I will no longer go there nor recommend it to my guests on Samui as i used to.
As i tried to make a last minute booking,I first tried phoning the resort and after failing tried on Agoda but there was no availability. So as i really wanted my daughter to be comfortable in a known environment i tried calling more. First i tried for 3 hours to call the resort =no answer. I then tried to call the mobile number several times no answer though eventually i got through. Having got over this hurdle I smiled at myself for my perseverance
The price quoted by phone was almost double than all earlier occasions so after a little bartering for 4 nights stay i was offered only 40% price hike on the usual rate. Ok new management inflation etc i understand and was thinking maybe theres some positive changes.
When we got to the resort we were quoted 60% higher than what we have paid previously. We explained that i had phoned and a call was made to bangkok and with more talking told now the price previously agreed was accepted.
We went to the villa thinking all was fine, ok now the villa was getting a little worn and not as clean as previous though with maintenance this could be addressed but if allowed to decay further big work would be needed. There was a bad smell in bedroom and gecko poop on the bed as all windows had been left open. So we agreed we would leave deposit and come back in three hours (or so) so they could give a good clean. We asked the extra bed we had agreed for our 4 year old to be put in the bedroom. Suddenly there was no extra bed but she could sleep on a sunbed mat on the floor and they would only charge us an extra 400 baht per night for this service. Again we discussed that it wasn't agreed this way and we again went through phone calls. And it was agreed that our original agreement was acceptable. As an aside I asked why listed on Agoda and shown as being sold out ,it was explained to me that the listing meant free advertising and by not having availability they didn't pay commission and made more money. I did ask if they thought it strange that though the other resorts around were at 70+ percent this weekend they were 100% empty, but i got no answer to this :)
Anyway I offered 5000 baht deposit to secure room and said we would come back in the evening once we had seen all clean and prepared we would settle up. Suddenly it was not possible. As it seems along with increasing the rate, allowing maintenance to drop and not even being that polite and caring this complex is no longer staffed after 6pm. Only one security ground for several rai of land on the beach and the villas are open with no walls around them just privet and lots of non secure windows to get through. It also meant you could no longer order any food after six pm but had to go out to order, of course leaving an insecure beach villa empty.
Again we discussed and it was agreed we would be charged one night and could settle all the rest in the morning, So we thought what the hell our little girl wants the pool and though we were far from happy with this 40 plus minutes of chatting (in Thai and english (my wife isThai)) and smiling through clenched teeth we would at least get ourselves relaxed. So then as we we thought we were all settled we were then asked for more money for a key deposit. At this point my wife said she was already uncomfortable with the changes and the fact there was only 1 security guard. Please note she is from Khanom so has experience of the area. And we said forget it and we were leaving. All very friendly. As i sat in the garden booking the only 4-5 star resort in Khanom at a lower rate than this place I heard the lady on the phone, don't bother cleaning the room theres no point.
All i can say as a hotel owner is i feel the owner of this place is not having his/her business handled well at all. The new price is acceptable if and only if there is staff, service and care. It also helps if your venue can be booked. You may want to consider changing things again as otherwise you are simply losing on your investment as no-one working for you seems to care and appears to be focused on making things difficult. Its a lovely little place and a real shame to see it going to waste this way. This day just lost you about 1000 use on a villa complex that had NO guests. I can only assume that business at other times must be great, i hope so as unless i hear of changes our family will now spend our extended weekend breaks away from Samui at other venues in this area.
Sorry

After visiting all the place in khanom beach we walking by orchid royal house by chance. Only 2 bungalows and 2 pool villas surending by an amazing garden by the beach. Nicely decorate, the rooms are very spacius . I recommand this little piece of paradise!
