How disappointed we were with our stay at the Grand Adirondack Hotel. As frequent visitors to Lake Placid we were excited to try the refurbished hotel. Unfortunately, aside from the nicely decorated lobby, the rest of stay was not one to repeat. Our room was not ready until an hour after check in which was pretty frustrating. While the room looked nice, the noise was a major issue, including razor thin walls and floors (loved the family swearing at each other at 6am and the other one running races at 7am), slamming doors, rain from outside and ticking sound from heater. Further, our room was never cleaned in between nights. We were told this was because of a hockey tournament, but quite frankly, if they can’t handle a large group then they should not host a large group, or only host the large group. Definitely would not recommend.…
Recommend staying elsewhere! This property just had a “soft opening” and it’s still under construction both inside and outside. It’s simply not worth staying here and beware of being disappointed as we were. As a loyal Marriott Titanium member we chose to stay here for a special occasion trip, even reached out ahead of time and was offered a complimentary suite upgrade. However upon checkin received absolutely zero program benefits or recognition. Not offered any welcome amenity, no breakfast, and worse no upgrade. Had to re-approach the front desk staff and they were clueless about any normal Marriott elite benefits, yet only begrudgingly offered breakfast after insisting it was a normal program benefit. Worse yet, downgraded and offered no apology or information. Especially disheartening when they were still selling suites that night on their website, but refused to follow through with a previous upgrade offer. Very disheartening! As for breakfast, the area is still under construction and there was only one waiter working the whole restaurant. Took over 15 minutes to get coffee and a menu, then another 30 minutes to receive cold eggs/bacon. Recommend the coffee shop across the street and/or bakery a block away instead. As for the rooms, lots of issues! The windows facing the lake, even from the top floor, more over look the adjacent roof tops verses the lake. Very misleading room description and honestly not worth any additional value. The windows are screwed shut and don’t open! This is a huge issue when the air conditioning doesn’t work and only blows hot air, making the room stuffy real quick. Highly recommend bringing your own portable fan if you prefer a good nights sleep because the hotel doesn’t carry them. Regarding noise, the walls are very thin and it’s easy to hear the street noise and conversations from adjacent rooms, including barking dogs allowed in nearby guests rooms. Recommend bringing ear plugs. FYI, the roof deck bar is not “seasonally” open, it’s actually closed and still under construction. Even on the nicest day of fall and advertised on the website, it’s disappointing to find out upon arrival it’s not actually opening until next summer. Also, there is no “lounge access” as per the online website room description, it’s highly misleading. Overall, would highly recommend staying elsewhere in Lake Placid, especially if you’re a Marriott elite member. There is potential for a great hotel here one day, but not while it’s under construction and not while the front line staff has absolutely no training on how to deal with Marriott Bonvoy program or elite guests. The leadership team here locally and the parent management company is really doing a poor job with the launch of this property and that’s truly sad. Recommend staying elsewhere, beware!…
Wow. What a wonderful hotel to have stayed in. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The hotel staff were very professional and accommodating. Specifically, Devin, Tashi, and Maiia. We were very pleased with the location. Within walking distance of restaurants, shopping, and vistas. Public parking is within walking distance. The hotel also provides parking. We will definitely stay here again.
Stayed two nights for business. Was upgraded based on Titanium Bonvoy membership to a Deluxe room overlooking the lake. The rooms are beautifully remodeled with nice furnishings, updated bathrooms and little amenities you’d expect from a higher end Marriott hotel. The staff at the valet, front desk, restaurant and, housekeeping were all very accommodating. While they are all still learning their jobs (only open 8 days during my stay), they were great. Only suggestions are for the restaurant - suggest a few more lower-carb option and the glasses of wine were very small - 4 sips for $15 Hahn was disappointing but the food was fantastic and service great! Great having a Marriott right on Main St verses only the Courryard. I’m in LP monthly so I plan to stay often. Nice having access to run around the lake, stroll on Main St and many dining options nearby (although I like the restaurants in Saranac Lake a bit better - try Bitters & Bones for a fun bar/restaurant scene) Great job on this new hotel!…
Booked a last minute weekend trip to Lake Placid. Saw this hotel on Marriott website and booked it. Former Northwoods Inn. Turns out it opened two days prior. Front desk (Mia, Alison, and Devon) were fantastic as I would expect from a higher- end Marriott property. Room was great. They put some thought into this place and didn't go cheap on anything. Bathroom, mattress, pillows all high quality. Bar on street level was also very nice. It was clear that the staff is well trained and focused on your stay. The Main Street location is just steps to all restaurants and bars. Will definitely be back!
