Forgot to take pictures, but this place is great! The owners are great. The facilities are top notch. Any negative reviews are from people who wanted more than they were willing to pay for. This place more than delivered. Will definitely stay again in the future!
This was unique as the way you make reservations. You have to do it on the phone, not online. Then you have to mail a check. I was worried it would not get there in time, so requested that they let me know that they received it. They did. The campground was great for showers, and toilets. The owner did a fabulous job making them. Check in was easy, location was beautiful. The first night we had about 10 minutes of bad wind. Not bad, and the night sky was amazing filled with family memories looking up. The second night was cloudy and windy all night. We did not get any sleep and one of our tent poles snapped. That made for a very long night. I would stay again if the park was full.
My wife and I have car camped all over the country and, Ranch Topanga is likely the best campground we have ever stayed in. Pat and Guy have done an amazing job of creating this oasis in Terlingua. Bathrooms, showers, and sinks are immaculately clean, well designed and plentiful so you never have to wait. Campsites have interesting view whether near or far. Fire rings and picnic tables await at each spot. We would love to return sometime. Big Bend NP is about a 30 minute drive thru spectacular scenery.
One of our favorite campsites ever. Campsites are large with water source, picnic tables and trash and recycling containers at site. Our site had a cover over the picnic table. Since tent only, campground was quiet. Nigh sky was full of stars. Restrooms were rustic but clean with free showers, a real bonus. We spent a week at campground while touring many parts of Great Bend National Park. It was a great place to return to each evening. Stores to purchase ice, etc were available within a few miles. Temperatures were comfortable in October. Windy on our last night but otherwise calm. We saw other campgrounds near Terlinga, which were dusty and crowded. Rancho Topanga was ideal as well as reasonably prices at $10 per person for lower part of campground. Upper area, with great views, priced a little more with it's own restroom building.…
Always used to camp primitive in the National Park, but Rancho Topanga has way more amenities for the same price, AND you can have a campfire. It's really nice to get a hot shower after a long day hiking or biking. Bonus, just a couple of miles up the road from some of the best mountain biking in Texas - Lajitas Airport Trails, and Big Bend Ranch State Park. On my 6th stay there now, Pat and Guy the owners are always friendly and helpful (and were very gracious when I needed to change my reservation). Note 1 - this ain't the Hyatt Regency - it's car camping with running water and showers. Perfect for me! Noet 2 - the extra $ 5 for the ridge campsites is worth it to catch the sunrise over the Chisos.
