Night skies to die for
Gallo Campground: Camp host were great, sites really are nice. Bathrooms clean & well maintained. Stars/night skies were amazing. Easy back in spots. Camp site 17 was for tents & RVs. As you see in the pictures our 31ft fit with my truck on the side. No hook ups, but dump station is available. The road to the campground is horrible. Took 1hour to drive 20 miles in. Damaged two of my RV tires & had to replace when I got home. Extremely happy I only had 3hrs to drive home. Would have gave a 5⭐️ If it had not been for road

Quiet, spacious site, views for miles
Gallo Campground offers both tent and RV spaces. It offers flush toilets, potable water (an improvement from our trip a decade ago), and a deep sink to wash your dishes. The tent sites have a large raised square for your tent. It's level and smooth. There's also a large picnic table and fire ring (weather permitting). The road around the sites is graveled, which was really helpful to keep from slipping with all the rain we experienced. Definitely not a place for everyone, but we love it and being so close to the ruins.

Wish we had more time here
The Gallo Campground at Chaco Canyon was the most unique experience we encountered on our New Mexico trip. It is difficult to get to, but once there, it is well worth the 16 miles of washboard roads! The campground offers no amenity's other than a place to park, bathrooms, water and a dump station. We met a wonderfully knowledgeable person by the name of Stacee(y?) We all regret not getting a last name or other information. They have a wonderful Visitor Center with a museum, film and gift shop. The ruins were fabulous! And gives you an idea of what it was like back in the day. If you like "roughing it" camping, this is the place for you!
