Rebecca and her family were fortunate! Worst stay of my life - literally. We Ziolocked the clothes we wore to bed but the bedbugs were still alive and well in the bags when we got home and our bites healed.

Thank goodness we did not have that bad of an experience. Our room seemed old and in need of renovation--- but it sounds like we had one of the better rooms.
I wonder if we stayed in the same hotel!! Our room reeked of cigarette smoke and we had to bag the clothes we wore to contain the bed bugs.

Oops! I write my answer to my own post - meant to respond to your thoughtful reply. Glad your stay was better/safer than ours. We flew into Homer the morning after ou stay in Anchorage. Love it there
When will I get the extra $100 returned that was charged to my credit card as a security deposit?

Dear Sir, I apologize for a delayed response due to a medical emergency. We do try hard to get the correct information to all Travel related agencies regarding hotel ammenities, services and policies such as the credit card hold to cover possible incidentals such as smoke or room damage I am sorry this information was not communicated to you before arrival but I think that it is such a standard policy for most hotels that some agents assume their clients have this knowledge. Also, a standard credit card hold is usually released from your financial institution or credit card company to your account within 1-2 bus. days. However, a check / debit card (which carries the same properties as a paper check) can take much longer as many banking institutions vary in area. The day after our guest check out usually around 4am we reconcile our sales and release any holds back to the account / card number. However, I can be held accountable for some of this on how we communicate to our guest as the "$100 hold" on credit cards is not a security deposit but only a hold. Again, I apologize for the miscommunication and hope the rest of your trip was a success.
