If you like a hotel in which every thing is shiny and new and tastefully decorated, this place is not for you. If you can tolerate a bit of shabbiness and decor that falls far short of elegant, and if you're looking for lodgings that...続きを読む
Great historic building, central location in downtown, nice staff, continental breakfast (toast, bagels, english muffins, cereal and yogurt with beverages) nice historic touches throughout the building but the rooms need some TLC. Spacious rooms, but the beds squeak and are quite noisy just by sitting...続きを読む
We stayed on the 4th floor. Very very cold, but the good news was that it did aid sleeping (love sleeping in cold rooms). Funky. Lighting was very bad, TV very old, wallpaper stained, windows leaked, bathroom tile cracked and missing. Three towels in the...続きを読む
This was my second stay at this hotel. The rooms aren't in the best condition but honestly it's an older hotel what do you expect? I love the feel of the hotel. I like how it is designed that the beds and bedding feel like...続きを読む
We really enjoyed our stay. There's s lot of history here! The staff was very friendly and the service was amazing! The price was right and the room cozy. Housekeeping does a great job keeping the rooms clean and presentable.
Can you please answer the question asked multiple times. Is Mandy still managing at the Calumet

No it's somebody else
What is the "family suite" like? How many does it accommodate? (I cannot find details about specific rooms at the Calumet Inn website.)

Sorry I can't answer specifically about the family suite. We stayed in room 205, but were able to peek into a few other rooms on the second floor. If you're looking for a shiny, "sparkly" room that looks like every other room you find in new hotels, this isn't the place for you. If you like historic, clean, comfortable, "homey" as in kind of a grandma's house feel, this is exactly what you want.
I couldn't access their website this morning to see what they say about the family suite. I would suggest you give them a call. They should be able to answer your question. Everyone who worked in the hotel seemed very friendly. I would ask if the suite is one of the rooms that has been remodeled recently and wouldn't hesitate to ask politely if they could possibly send a couple of photos of the room your interested in. (We did post pictures of room 205 with our review.) They may or may not provide photos, but it never hurts to ask.
What happened to all the antique furniture from the rooms when the "Hotel Hell" remodled?

The Hotel Hell episode was quite interesting. It seems like it has gone down hill since it was filmed. I don't know about all of the rooms, but the two we saw had wall paper including large roses wallpaper in the rose room. I honestly can't remember the furniture in our room. I thought it was not typical motel furniture but nothing unusual. We did not have a jacuzzi or claw foot tub. The rooms are large and seemed comfortable enough to us.
