We stayed 3 nights - 2 in one of the two bedroom (both en-suite) cabins which we had exclusive use of; although basic they are comfortable and have the added luxury of your own wood-burning stove in the lounge. A kitchen area is provided with...続きを読む
Exactly where is it? The map shows it in Punta Arenas, but it sounds as if it is just outside an entrance to Torres del Paine by Rio Serrano. We are looking for a place to stay just outside the park itself. We would like directions on how to get there from Punta Natales by car. Same question as someone else, but no answers yet.

Doann - I was at this hotel in March and the writer from Sydney is correct. This hotel is just outside the southern entrance to the park. As you near the park on the road from Puerto Natales, the main road veers right. If you bear left, really going almost straight ahead, the road begins climbing and you wonder where you are headed, but don't worry - the road dead-ends in Rio Serrano. After climbing up the side of a mountain, the road drops into Rio Serrano. It is a very small village. I don't recall any road signs in the village. It is an open area with few trees, so you can see all of the buildings in the village easily. Use Google satellite view to orient yourself so you will know the hosteria when you see it. It's to the right, off the road into town.
Note that at the high point of the road into Rio Serrano there is an excellent spot to pull over and take a picture of the mountains in the park. My best photo of the trip is from that spot.
It's perhaps a 15 minute drive from the hosteria to the park entrance station, where you pay your fee.
We have reservations here in a couple weeks, but I can't find good directions to this place from Puento Natales. What's the closest hotel that actually shows up on Google Maps?
I will be travelling to TDP in March on my own. Could you please advise if it is necessary to hire a car if I am staying so close to the park?
Are there any buses, or are there people driving in and out all the time that I could get a lift with?
