We have booked a 6-day trek with this guest house in July 2018, for a price of USD 1’000 (2 people). They are highly unprofessional, they were unprepared, and we were very disappointed in several ways. We contacted them 2 months before our trip to Mongolia, leaving them more than enough time to organize everything. They were supposed to handle all the logistics, camping gear and food. Here is a list of facts that went wrong: - We had contacted them the day before about the weather conditions and asked if we could start with another itinerary since rain was forecasted in the area. They said it was not possible as everything had already been organized. On our arrival, they told us we had to change the itinerary because of the weather conditions. - On our arrival in Moron, they asked us if we had a tent, while they were supposed to handle it (and it is THE most important piece of equipment in a camping trip). Then they said that they had a one-person tent, and after that they said they could find a two-person tent (bear in mind that this was on the starting day of the trek). - They made us buy a sleeping mattress, although they were supposed to organize all the camping gear. - After we arrived (and were ready to leave for the trek), they left the guest house to buy the food for 6 days, as well as some equipment. Nothing was ready and we lost several hours waiting for them. - When they were finally ready to leave, they told us that water was not included in the price and that we would have to buy our own (this was wrong, as the price was supposed to include everything). - Our guide was a 23 year old student, who didn’t know the area and didn’t even have a map. Every morning, the driver would explain him the itinerary and he would follow the road not knowing when or where we would stop for lunch or when we would arrive at the camp. - Each time we reached a ger camp, there would be a complicated discussion to figure out if it wasn’t too expensive and if it was included in the price (bear in mind that we paid USD 1’000 for the trek). - The driver would regularly go buy missing food and camping equipment during the first two days (including a gas stove, that they hadn’t forecasted; another central piece of equipment in a camping trip). - On the second day at lunch, they broke the gas stove so we had to cancel the afternoon walk and drive straight to the next camp so that they could cook. After the usual complicated discussion as to whether or not we could “afford” this camp, they would cook lunch. We ended up eating lunch at 5pm. - After so many problems and difficulties, we decided to stop the trek at this point and go back to Moron, as they were clearly unprepared and unprofessional. The driver and guide called the manager who immediately told us that we couldn’t get a refund and hung up on us. She didn’t even want to know what went wrong. - Once we got back to Moron, she was very aggressive with us and wouldn’t let us speak to explain what went wrong. She would interrupt us continuously without letting us speak. She said again that we wouldn’t get a refund and then threatened to call the police on us (for what reason exactly, this remains a mystery), mentioning that she had our passport numbers. - We left and had to change plans for the rest of our holidays. This cost us a great amount of money, not to mention the disappointment of having trust dishonest people who had a strong negative impact on our holidays.…
