Suan Sook Bed & Breakfast was a great break from our stay in Chiang Mai. Kevin and his wife recently built this beautiful homestay located in a quiet region near the base of Doi Inthanon, along a snaking road winding between rice paddies and grazing cattle. The rooms are modern, air conditioned, comfortable and clean Don't be concerned about having all of your meals here. Pansa is an accomplished chef - every meal here was excellent, well seasoned (but not too spicy) and well prepared. The food was definitely better than many of the restaurants we've been to. Kevin took us out to a few off-the-beaten-path locations for photography that made our stay even more enjoyable. We wish we'd stayed here longer.
We found this place quite by accident, and what a wonderful surprise it was. Apparently they haven't been open long but they are off to a good start. We were planning on going up to the top of Doi Inthanon but it started to rain so we changed our plans and started to look for somewhere to stay. Lucky for us they are located very close to the entrance to the National Park so we didn't have far to drive. The owners were very friendly and were able to handle our last minute plans with no problem. Our room was absolutely gorgeous and big. Great shower and comfortable bed,we were very pleased. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful.Looking forward to going back someday.
I could go on and on about what a great time my wife and I had at the Suan Sook Homestay... but I will get to the point. Hosts: Kevin and Pansa, the owners of Suan Sook are awesome. Kevin is from New Zealand and his wife Pansa is Thai. They are happy to sit a have a chat, share information about the local area or talk photography with their guests. Of course, if you prefer your alone time, they will oblige you. Food: Pansa would occasionally disappear into the kitchen and reappear with delicious and authentic Thai foods. I was convinced she had an army of help in there, but it was only her. She forced us to eat afternoon snacks, a multi course dinner and a delicious breakfast. Everything was freshly prepared and excellent! The Property: It is difficult to accurately describe how amazing this place is... you can tell it was designed to serve a purpose... provide a quiet getaway in the Thai countryside. This is like going to stay at a friends beautiful home... it is comfortable, clean, friendly and accomodating. Highly recommended! Location: Suan Sook Homestay, is a bit of a drive from Chiang Mai, but on the main road to Doi Inthanon, the highest mountain in all of Thailand. It takes some time to reach your destination, but once you are there... you will be rewarded several times over. Bonus: Kevin and Pansa are both avid professional photographers. If you are looking for something interesting to do during your holiday, sign up for one of their photo workshops. They will teach you as much as you want to know about your camera, how to take better photos and how to use your computer to enhance them. Overall: 10 STARS! We loved our time with Kevin and Pansa. We will be going back asap.…
