My husband & I will be visiting Cape Breton Island this October, hoping to drive the Cabot Trail and maybe taking in some of the musical performances with Celtic Colours. I am considering booking a cabin with the Black Cove Cottages, but I was wondering if your restaurant will still be open in October. I would not make sense for us to plan to stay in Neil's Harbor off-season if we have no place for meals. If you will be open, do you serve breakfast and dinner? Hope you can help me plan accordingly.

I can't answer that Susan, try a search, they have a facebook page, maybe you can ask on the page.
It is unfortunate you feel this way. I am the waitress you are referring to. I had offered each and every customer that arrived at the restaurant that day to be seated in the cooler section. Unfortunately there were no tables available at that time and people waiting to be seated.. They preferred to sit in the section that had the best view as did yourself with your group. There was only one lady in the group of 6 that was uncomfortable and I did keep checking her. The others in her group were fine. The gentlemen with her also thanked me for the wonderful service. Their food was ready to be served and we were not to have people moving to tables (with food in their hands). We are very small and try our best to accommodate each and every patron. We always go over and above what is expected of us. As for "seniors beware" we host residents from the nursing home every year and they are treated with the utmost respect. We hope you do return to our restaurant and as they were before, circumstances will be friendly and accommodating. We appreciate each and every comment that it placed on this site. I am certified with Tourism Nova Scotia and have worked in the Hospitality Industry for a total of 20 years. There is always room for improvement in any business no matter what the circumstance. When you return we will treat you and each person young and old equally as we always do. Thank you for your patronage. I hope your next visit to Cape Breton will be a pleasurable one.
This was not my review. I had no trouble with any of the staff which I indicated--just the food--probably the worst I had in Nova Scotia during our three week vacation. We were a couple.
