Schengen Area, Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania: New Passport Validity Requirements

On 26 June 2013, the European Union published regulation EU 610/2013, modifying Regulation EU 562/2006 (Schengen Borders Code). According to the regulation, third-country nationals (both visa required and visa exempt) entering the Schengen area, Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania will be required to hold a travel document valid for at least three months after the intended date of departure from the territory of the Member States. The requirement will enter into force on Friday, July 19, 2013.
